Janet Brooks currently lives, works and paints in Victoria, BC. She has a BFA from Nova Scotia College of Art and Design, and has taught and exhibited internationally.

“I love to paint. I love the brilliance of the colours and the feel of paint being pushed around. Building layers of paper, tissue, plastic, charcoal, pastel, grease pencil and ink, I don’t worry about the outcome. What is left on the surface always reveals the history of what is below.

I use the process to uncover my own emotional stories. I trust that a story will emerge and that my own history will be revealed.”
